Sometime in March, RCA issued an album titled "Pure Gold". (ANL1-0971). The material consisted of a mixed bag of songs that were recorded in various parts of Elvis' career over the last nineteen years. The front cover used a live shot from the "Aloha" special while the rear promoted albums from other RCA artists.

Elvis returned for the third and final day completing the sessions in the RCA studio with two more masters before he broke off at 3.30 am. The ten songs were barely enough for a new album and there was no new single among them.

Felton Jarvis and Rick Ruggieri spent the next two days doing mix downs of all the songs recorded at Sunset and decided to replace all of the bass tracks laid down by Duke Bardwell.
