Elvis arrived in the middle of the night at the Stax Studio and the musicians were shocked by his appearance. He wore a black cape, white suit and a superfly hat. He was overweight and his speech was slurred. For most of them it was the first time they saw him not in good shape. The material was not up to scratch and everyone could see that Elvis would have preferred to be giving karate lessons rather than recording. The session broke off at 3.00 a.m.
Songs recorded: "If You Don't Come Back", "It's Diff'rent Now"(rehearsal), "Three Corn Patches", "Take Good Care of Her" (audio)
