1972 was a mixed year for Elvis with the eventual breakup of his marriage to Priscilla and the arrival of a new love in his life, Linda Thompson. Career-wise, he had a very hectic concert schedule with the usual two engagements in Vegas combined with various tours on the road which included some sell out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York. He had a top ten single hit with "Burning Love" the "Madison Square Garden album" peaked in the top ten and he completed the filming of a documentary movie for M.G.M. titled "Elvis On Tour." There was also the announcement of the global telecast from Hawaii in January next year.
