In early August, RCA released "Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits, Vol. 1" (LPM-6401). Encouraged by the success of the budget-price Camden Release, RCA and the Colonel came up with yet another special package (and special deal) to recycle the Presley repertoire. This four-album mono set contained most of Elvis' hit songs and because of the higher retail price and like every other special deal, it fell under Elvis and the Colonel's 50-50 arrangement. It contained previously released singles by Elvis, ranging from his debut for RCA "Heartbreak Hotel" to "Kentucky Rain". The box had 50 songs represented as Gold Discs with 25 on the front and 25 on the back. Excerpts from the extended play "Elvis Sails" was added as a bonus. A photo album that contained twenty photographs was included within the box set.

Elvis: "A Day in the Life"                                                                                                                               August 28, 1970, (Friday)

Joe Esposito received an early morning call from someone demanding $50,000 to reveal the name of the person who planned to kill Elvis on stage tomorrow night. This second threat was taken very seriously, and the FBI were called in. Elvis also called more of his own men in to step up Security at the show. They were all "armed" and positioned around the stage, to foil any Assassination attempt.
