The year began with Elvis' second engagement in Las Vegas and a return in the summer. He did his first live performing on the road for almost thirteen years and had a marathon recording session in Nashville. He continued to release singles and albums and released a concert film based on his performances in Vegas. His interest in Police Badges and guns increased and culminated in a trip at the end of the year to meet the President.

Unfortunately their were more tragedies in the music scene when Al Wilson, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin all died very young. The Beatles disbanded to go their own separate ways.
