RCA, who had pioneered the Stereo 8-Track Cartridge announced their intention to make their music available in Cassette form from the middle of the year. 8-Track was still very popular in the automotive market and music Cassettes were more aimed at the portable end of the market. CBS were now the only major company left to still cross over.
