Rumours of Elvis' imminent marriage appeared in the press just as members of the wedding party began to assemble in Palm Springs. Security was so tight that not even Alan Fortas and Lamar Fike, in Memphis and Nashville respectively, received invitations, with George Klein and jeweler Harry Levitch the only non-family members to fly out from Memphis. Larry Geller first learned of the wedding from a supermarket tabloid.

RCA issued the new Elvis single. "Long Legged Girl (with the short dress on)"/"That's Someone You Never Forget" (RCA 47-9115). The A-side was taken from his new movie "Double Trouble" and it was coupled with a previously release ballad that appeared on the "Pot Luck" album. The cover used a publicity photo from "Spinout".
