Soundtrack recording for Kissin' Cousins began at RCA's Studio B in Nashville and ran from 7:00 pm to 3:30 am With "Viva Las Vegas" over budget, the Colonel was determined to protect Elvis' profit margin at every turn, this included cutting the soundtrack more cheaply and conveniently in Nashville instead of Hollywood. A cold prevented Elvis from recording his vocals, although he did stop by the studio to meet the film's director, Gene Nelson, who played congas with the band.
