Sometime in February, RCA began to re-issue six of Elvis' early albums that were originally recorded in mono and release them in a new format called "Electronically Reprocessed Stereo." Originally these albums were huge sellers but were now obsolete on stereo equipment. RCA wanted to tap into this goldmine of monaural recordings and make them available to users who may now have the more modern musical setup. 'Upgrading' the sound was achieved by placing to separate mono signals into two separate stereo channels. Then they added some delay and a bit of reverb and viola! (awful fake stereo)
