PAN AMERICAN FLIGHT - Los Angeles to Honolulu, Hawaii. Departed: (9:00 am) Arrived: (12:20 am)
At the last minute Elvis was forced to fly instead of travelling by sea due to a worker's strike. He boarded a Pan American World
Airways flight that departed Los Angeles and headed for Honolulu, Hawaii. (photo)
He was joined by Vernon Presley, Dee Presley, Gene Smith, Hal Wallis.
Joe Esposito, Bob (Red) West, Ray Sitton and Alan Fortas.

The Colonel, who was already in Hawaii, had arranged for Elvis to take a helicopter from the airport to a hotel, where "the snow jobs will be set up." Eight thousand screaming fans and DJ Tom Moffatt (photos/video) were on hand to greet the star, and he lost his yachting cap, his diamond ring, and his jeweled tie clasp in the one-hundred-yard walk from the helicopter to the door of the Hawaiian Village Hotel, where he stayed on the fourteenth floor.
