"A Day in the life"
1962
By 1962, Elvis was now making three profitable movies a year but at the expense of television or live appearances. He was still making solid strides in the pop charts, but no live performances meant that he was only "appearing" around the world by movie screen only. The soundtracks themselves were overall weaker than before with a 'system' set in place that lacked forward thinking and creativity for quick profit for those involved. Most of Elvis' downtime was spent in Las Vegas, which he would continue to enjoy going forward. 'Folk' and 'surf' music was starting to appear in the charts and 'Rock n Roll' as a whole was diminishing as a force in popular sound.
