Colonel Parker and RCA maintained their long-standing dispute over what songs should go on Elvis' next single and when the record should be released. In this case, the Colonel wanted to pair the title song of "Wild in the Country" with another soundtrack item, "I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell." Bill Bullock held out for a non-soundtrack number as the B-side, and Elvis resolved the issue by picking "I Feel So Bad" from the last (non-soundtrack) Nashville session. The Colonel was philosophical about the outcome. "I don't pick the tunes," he says. "Elvis does."
