RCA issued Elvis' latest single; "It's Now Or Never", coupled with "A Mess of Blues." The front and rear cover used the same photograph; taken when Elvis did his press conference at Graceland a couple of months ago. "It's Now Or Never" was based on the Italian song "O Sole Mio" and while Elvis was based in Germany, he made a home recording while he sang Tony Martin's "There's No Tomorrow" which was also based on "O Sole Mio".

During an interview with the Memphis Press-Scimitar, Elvis said grudgingly of his new stepmother, "She seems pretty nice," then added: "I only had one mother and that's it. There'll never be another. As long as she understands that, we won't have any trouble." Of his father Elvis said, "He's all I got left in the world. I'll never go against him or stand in his way. He stood by me all these years and sacrificed things he wanted so I could have clothes and lunch money to go to school."
