Colonel Parker read a newspaper article about an attempt to raise funds for a memorial to the USS Arizona, which was sunk in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor with 1,177 aboard. Seizing upon this as an inspiration, the Colonel immediately began plans for a benefit concert in Hawaii, which will coincide with the filming of Elvis' next picture, "Hawaiian Beach Boy."
