movie's plot was to seriously look at the life of a young man caught between the worlds of his Indian mother and his white
father.

Elvis was fitted with contact lenses in order to change his blue eyes to brown for his role as a "halfbreed," but in the end
he kept his own natural look.
Bill Bullock thanked Colonel Parker for "getting me off the hook on the recording equipment which was planned for Elvis'
home." The Colonel had accepted as a poor token of fealty the cost of automobile rental in California and record players for Elvis to use both at the movie studio and in his home. Bullock asked for a "snow letter" for his files, that confirmed acceptance of the arrangement.
