1960

Elvis was finally discharged from the army. He returned to the nation's television screens on a show with Frank Sinatra. Went back into the recording studio and completed two more movies for Hollywood (where he met one of his idols, Dean Martin.) There were to be no live performances as Colonel Parker began to cultivate Elvis' new career as an all-round entertainer in case "Rock 'n' Roll" died out. Unbelievably, after the triple tragedy the music world suffered last year, singer/songwriter Eddie Cochran was killed in a car crash in England. Passenger Gene Vincent was badly injured but thankfully survived.
