Today was the start of a fourteen-day furlough, in which Elvis traveled by train for four hours from Frankfurt to Munich with Lamar Fike, Rex Mansfield, and Charlie Hodge. He spent most of his two nights in Munich visiting some of his old acquaintances at the Moulin Rouge, including "Marianne," who had developed a strip routine "wearing nothing but a standard size Presley record."

Elvis and his entourage of three traveled to Paris in a private train car. There they were met by Viennese emigres Jean Aberbach and Freddy Bienstock of Hill and Range, who had arranged reservations at the Prince de Galles (Prince of Wales) Hotel, where they occupied a top-floor suite that overlooked the Champs-Elysees.

Elvis was mobbed sitting at a sidewalk cafe. Whether because of this experience, or because he had no interest in sightseeing, Elvis spent his days sleeping, and his nights at such well-known nightclubs as the Lido, the Moulin Rouge, the Folks Bergere, and the after-hours Le Bantu.
