Filming started for location shots and background footage of army operations to be used in Elvis' first post-army picture, now entitled "Christmas in Berlin" and later "Cafe Europa." Hal Wallis, who had spent much of the summer in Europe, visited Elvis in Bad Nauheim, but at the Colonel's explicit instructions Elvis was prohibited from taking any part in the shooting.
