PRIVATE HOME RECORDINGS (Exact Date Unknown) (Were these songs even recorded in one session?)
Goethestrasse 14, or Hotel Grunewald?
Elvis continued to record material on his home tape recorder, with a repertoire that included Gospel numbers, R&B songs, and well-known standards like Tony Martin's "There's No Tomorrow" (English lyrics set to the "O Sole Mio" melody popularized by Enrico Caruso) that Elvis was considering for future release. Elvis likes the song so much that he subsequently asks Freddy Bienstock to commission new lyrics. (audio) **These were home recordings made on domestic equipment and not intended for public use** (I have separated the tracks for convenience.)

Steve Sholes has submitted his plan to release "When It Rains, It Really Pours," "Your Cheatin' Heart," or "Tomorrow Night" as the next single. The Colonel strongly demurs, he voiced his opinion that none of the songs were strong enough, but, he said, the final decision is up to Elvis. In a separate letter to Elvis he emphasized this same point, granted that he could be wrong in his judgment but that it was Elvis' contractual right to pick the single.
