Elvis was in the middle of his two year stint in the army. He was worried about the public forgetting him. He began dabbling with amphetamines more frequently and also took up karate. While on leave he went to Paris and later in Germany, met the love of his life. The world of "Rock 'n' Roll had it's first major tragedy when it lost three of it's brightest stars; Buddy Holly, JP "the Big Bopper" Richardson and Richie Valens in a plane crash.
