The group of five adults quickly out grew the trailer home, so Elvis rented a house in Killeen at 605 Oak Hill Drive from Judge Chester Crawford, for $1 500 a month.


RCA released a new Elvis EP that contained four tracks from his soon to be released new movie. Front cover was a publicity shot from "King Creole".

For a few weeks in July, Anita Wood (photo) stayed at the home of Sergeant and Mrs. Bill Norwood who lived in government housing on the post. Elvis was allowed to visit when he was off duty.

Colonel Parker continued to play the movie companies off against one another, he even claimed that a German Producer had offered him $250 000 and 50% of profits , if Elvis were to do a film for them.

The Colonel visited a lot during the summer to keep Elvis and Vernon up to date with business concerns. Elvis was adamant that the public is going to "forget him". The Colonel and Vernon reassured Elvis that's not going to happen. Elvis even confided this feeling to Eddie Fadal and close friends.

The Colonel had been attempting to get an advertising endorsement for Elvis through the William Morris Agency. Harry Kalcheim informed Parker that Revlon would be interested in Elvis' endorsement of their men's hair product, "Top Brass" but not for the $100,000 fee that the Colonel was demanding.
