Elvis completed the filming of his fourth movie where he met fellow performer Sammy Davis Jr. He supposedly met Marlon Brando as well. Without any respite he joined the United States Army where he was going to be absent from the public for at least two years. He tragically lost his beloved mother Gladys, shortly before he departed for West Germany. Sometime early in his army life, he was introduced to prescription pills to help assist him in carrying out his duties.
